This week has been interesting and I’ve learnt two things about writing this memoir!
I was feeling tired & unmotivated & probably still a bit jet lagged so progress was slow – in fact it was not happening. Wednesday = 0 words, Thursday = 0 words. Friday= 0 words & Saturday = 0 words (you get the picture). By Sunday I was feeling worse because not only was I still felt tired & unmotivated, I now had 4 days & 4000 words to make up for. So without thinking about it, I just turned on my computer and started to work. Low and behold I clocked up 3924 words!
I’ve read it before, but what I learnt this week to be true – Take action then get motivated. Plus as an added bonus, when I went to bed after I had taken action, I started having ideas for my book so it turned into this! Action – Motivation – Inspiration!

The second thing I learnt this week is that I don’t like the term ‘shitty down draft’ (from Anne Lamott in Bird by Bird) – it has never made me feel good about what I am doing. Yes it might be shitty but hey, give me a chance. Instead I’m calling this my Creative down draft – a draft where I put all ideas onto the page, to allow me to see the arc of my story and see all the ways my themes show up.
Days remaining in 90 day challenge = 48 (to 4th June 2024)
Word count so far for Creative down draft 1 = 57400 words
