🧹 The Art of Admin

I started meeting my writing buddy weekly on Monday 22nd June and made a commitment to myself to do something uncomfortable: write and release a post every week.

Well, I did it!

Seven weeks later, 18 posts.

I’ve even impressed myself. 😜

But next week (and maybe the following), I’m not posting!

I’ve been watching my creative process closely, and I can see its cycle:

🌱 Create → 🌳 Finish → 🕊️ Release
🧹 Tidy → 💤 Rest → 🔋 Recharge
✨ Notice → 🌱 Begin again

I’ve been putting off the tidying and admin part, but it matters. Creative work leaves things behind: notes, drafts, images, ideas, files, loose ends, decisions. Sometimes, before the next thing can properly emerge, you need to clear the space.

And then there’s rest. Not as a reward for productivity. As part of the process itself.

A sustainable creative practice needs pauses built into it.

A week or two of not posting isn’t breaking the practice.

It is the practice.

Rest is part of the practice. 🩷
